The Rundown: Black Cat and Kang attempt to escape a galactic casino with the Avengers on their heels.

Black Cat and Kang are on the run with the Avengers behind them after stealing something both parties have been hunting for. As they make their escape, the circumstances that brought Felicia and Kang together reveal themselves as well as Felicia’s additions to the escape plan.

As the Avengers find themselves fighting Black Cat’s contingency plan, the pair find themselves almost free until Iron Man, Cap and Captain Marvel manage to corner them. Unfortunately, Black Cat and Kang prepared for this and reveal a new wrinkle headed right for them.

The Story: I enjoy MacKay’s writing a lot and there are things to enjoy in this issue, but this story only works if you are willing to believe that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (including a living computer) are so inept both at an infiltration mission and chase that events in this story could happen at all. Black Cat has always been a clever character, but nothing about this story really felt like a challenge for her or Kang and the only way it could was by dumbing down the Avengers to make it possible. It just strains credibility too much for me.

The Art: Karami delivers some fun and impressive art in the issue. The visuals are engaging and enhance the story.
